The alpaca industry here in England is supported by the British Alpaca Society who is a professional body that carry out a number of very import activities that underpin the expansion of the national herd. Most importantly, The British Alpaca Society or BAS operate a world class pedigree register that is accurate, online and easily accessible. The registry underpins the credibility and value of the stock and provides owners a mark of quality. The other areas the BAS are active in policy and implementation include:
